Our Malvern project has now reached completion, showcasing two stunning architecturally designed double-storey duplexes. The final build features a clean, modern form with strong rectilinear volumes, wide spans, and a symmetrical layout that maximises both street presence and internal space. Designed with sensitivity to its surroundings, the development blends seamlessly into the existing neighbourhood streetscape, mirroring the scale and rooflines of nearby homes while bringing a fresh, contemporary edge.
From the outset, ISG Frames supplied and installed the complete steel framing package, including wall frames engineered for exact load paths to support open-plan interiors, floor joists providing a solid base for both levels with minimal deflection, roof trusses shaped to integrate with the flat and parapet roof design, and structural steel elements enabling the large openings and upper-level overhangs that define the facade.
The building footprint is long and narrow, making precision in framing critical. Each duplex sits side-by-side with mirrored layouts and carefully aligned walls to simplify shared structural requirements while maintaining individuality in the final architectural expression. The layout features a larger main building facing the street and a smaller rear structure that functions as a shed or storage space, a design choice that echoes the lot arrangements of neighbouring properties. The frame design had to accommodate cantilevered sections for upper floors, wide internal spans without centre supports, and integration of large glazing panels for natural light.
Working within Malvern’s tight residential streets, we delivered every stage on schedule, from ground floor frames and floor joists to final truss installation, ensuring a smooth handover for finishing trades. The result is a robust, perfectly aligned steel frame that not only supports years of modern living but also respects and enhances the character of its neighbourhood.
