Introduction
Welcome. If you’re curious about what goes on behind the scenes in a modern steel framing factory, you’re in the right place. Today, I’ll walk you through our light gauge steel fabrication facility here in Melbourne, showing you how we manufacture high-quality frames, walls, trusses and more. You’ll see why we use Scottsdale machines, why TRUECORE® steel features heavily in our work, and how we deliver projects quickly, efficiently, and reliably across both metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.
Based in Melbourne, Delivering Across Melbourne & Regional Victoria
We are proudly based in Melbourne, with our facility located in Pakenham. From our base here, we deliver steel frame products and services to builders, developers, and homeowners across greater Melbourne and out into regional Victoria. Whether it’s for a suburban new home, a rural renovation, or a multi-house development, we can reach you.
Why this matters:
- Reduced transport times = lower costs, faster delivery
- Better communication when you’re local: you can inspect, tweak details, see sample components, etc.
- Compliance with Melbourne & Victorian building standards easier when you’re in-region
Our aim is to be your trusted fabricator for light steel frame work: someone you can rely on for quality, transparency, speed, and innovation.

Pakenham Facility: Strategic Location & Growth Area
Our facility sits in Pakenham, strategically placed along major highways, which makes it easy to service suburbs like Clyde, Dandenong, Cranbourne, and many of the eastern Melbourne growth corridors. Over recent years, these areas have seen significant residential and commercial development. Having a facility nearby gives us logistical advantages:
- Easier access to building sites = less time and cost in transport
- Ability to respond quickly to changes, orders, or urgent requests
- Serving both dense suburban zones and more remote regional projects
Our workshop offers over 1,000 sqm of undercover space, so we can maintain high consistency of fabrication no matter the weather. Rain or heat, our fabrications proceed without loss of precision or delays caused by external conditions.
Machinery & Equipment: What Powers Our Fabrication
Our Key Machines:
- Two x 90mm Scottsdale Wall Framing Machines
These are used to roll-form the “C” or “U” sections (studs, tracks) for wall framing. The 90mm size gives a good balance of strength and handling, while Scottsdale’s machines are known for precision, consistency in roll forming and tight tolerances. Dual machines increase throughput and allow us to run parallel jobs, reduce queue times, and ensure we hit tight deadlines.
- 2’ Scottsdale Truss Machine
This is used for roof trusses and sometimes floor joists or similar structural components. Trusses need to be strong, precisely engineered, and consistent. Using a Scottsdale truss machine means we can integrate design software, engineering, roll forming, and truss assembly in a workflow that minimises errors, reduces waste, and improves speed.
- Custom Angle / Bracket Roll Former
Angles, brackets and connectors are essential in a light steel frame structure. The custom roll former allows us to form these little but critical pieces to our own designs. It ensures that everything fits well, connectors are strong, and assembly on site is efficient. Having custom in-house bracketing capability means we don’t rely on external suppliers for some of the most common but important pieces.

End to End Fabrication: From Facade Frames to Entire House
One major advantage of working with us is that we offer true end-to-end light gauge steel fabrication. We don’t just cut steel studs and tracks; we build full systems: walls, trusses, joists, roof frames, everything needed to frame a house made of light steel frame. Here’s how that process typically flows:
1. Design & Engineering
We take architectural or builder plans and work closely with engineers to develop usable steel framing designs. Walls, trusses, openings, service runs, insulation, etc., all factored in.
2. Material Selection
We choose high quality light gauge steel materials (often TRUECORE® steel) to meet required standards for strength, durability, compliance, termite and fire resistance.
3. Roll Forming for the Entire Steel House Frame
Using our Scottsdale machinery, we fabricate the full structural system of a home under one roof. Wall frames are rolled and assembled with precision, floor joists are manufactured to span and carry loads efficiently, and roof trusses are cut, bolted, and configured to suit the design. Because each element comes from the same integrated process, the walls, floors, and roof work seamlessly together as one coherent frame system.
4. Custom Brackets, Angles, Connectors
Using our custom roll former, we manufacture the brackets, angles, and connectors that bring the entire frame together. This capability extends to façades, where precision-made connectors and angles are critical to achieving both structural stability and architectural intent. By producing these in-house, we ensure façade frames integrate smoothly with wall, roof, and floor systems.
5. Quality Control & Pre-Assembly
Before leaving our facility, we check components: dimensions, straightness, fit, strength, finish, whether they comply with engineering specs and building code.
6. Delivery / Installation Support
We deliver to your site or builder’s yard. If needed, we can supply or recommend installers familiar with light gauge steel frame assembly.
Because we manage everything in one place, we reduce risk of mismatch, delay, miscommunication. You get better speed, better quality, less waste.

Why We Choose TRUECORE® & Scottsdale
In our facility, we deliberately choose to use TRUECORE® steel and Scottsdale roll forming / framing systems. They are not just industry buzzwords: they deliver measurable benefits. Here is what makes them stand out.
- Strength & Durability: TRUECORE® steel provides high tensile strength, resists warping, twisting, shrinking. Structures made with it stay straight, perform well over time.
- Fire & Termite Resistance: TRUECORE® steel won’t catch fire, and it is not subject to termite or borer damage. This is especially important for homes, or areas prone to bushfire or pest risk in Victoria.
- Warranty & Standards: Backed by BlueScope, TRUECORE® steel meets Australian building standards, has warranty options (often up to 50 years for eligible applicants).
- Precision & Stability: Because steel doesn’t warp or twist as timber does, your walls, trusses, joists remain dimensionally accurate. Less re-work, fewer finish issues (doors jamming, windows out of plumb, etc.).
- Machinery Ecosystem: Scottsdale is a leading brand globally for light gauge steel / cold-formed steel (CFS) framing systems. Their ecosystem includes roll forming machinery, software (design, detailing, structural engineering, machine control), and support.
- Speed & Precision: The machines can produce wall panels, truss components, etc. with tight tolerances and consistency. That means the components fit together well, minimal waste, reduced labour/time on site.
- Software Integration: Design files, engineering, detailing flow through to the machines. You avoid version mismatches, mistakes, or delays.
Putting TRUECORE® steel and Scottsdale machine-and-software systems together gives us a facility capable of delivering high quality, cost-effective light steel frame building products.

Pay A Visit: Come See For Yourself
We believe transparency is important. If you’re a builder, homeowner, or developer and want to see how the process works in real life, we welcome you to tour our facility. During your visit, you’ll see the Scottsdale wall framing machines, the truss machine, and our custom roll former in action, giving you a close look at how precision fabrication really happens. You’ll also have the chance to inspect TRUECORE® steel components, including wall panels, trusses and more, to understand the level of quality we deliver.
Our engineering, drafting, and fabrication staff are available to talk through tolerances, material selection, and how we manage quality at every stage. We’ll also walk you through delivery logistics, typical lead times, and the way we package frames and components to ensure they arrive ready to install. If you’d like to schedule a visit, simply reach out and we’ll arrange a time. Seeing the fabrication process in person often helps clients understand why costs are structured the way they are, where efficiencies are found, and what to expect in the finished product.
